Suitable for Cookies4fun 3D cookies
For approximately 10 flowerpot cookies
5 puff pastry sheets
1. Preheat the ove to 180 degrees Celcius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. For 10 cookies, you need about 5 puff pastry sheets (12 x 12 cm). You will not need the measuring sticks provided in the set for the puff pastry cookies.
Place the pastry sheets on a silicon mat or greaseproof paper and let it defrost a bit. Use the cookie cutters to cut out the shapes. One sheet of pastry will be enough for 2 flowers and a base circle. You can reuse the rest of the pastry by forming a ball and rolling it out again with a rolling pin. Make sure you roll it out as thick as the original sheet of pastry. Puff pastry will puff up in the oven but this has no effect on the cookies. You’ll see that they will fit in the flowerpots anyways.
5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, making sure they don’t burn. Rather they’re too light than burned.
6. Cool the puff pastry cookies for 10 minutes before assembling them. Stack 3 base circles to make the flowerpot. Then place the flower in the pot. If you want them to be a little smaller, use 2 base circles. Be sure to cut off a piece of the flower stem or the cookies won’t stay up.
Unfortunately you can’t use icing with puff pastry as it will get soggy. To make the pastry cookies a little festive, you can sprinkle sesame, cumin or poppy seeds. Use a little egg yolk as glue.
Puff pastry cookies are ideal as a savory snack, in a lunchbox or as a healthy treat at school.
